William was born in 1072. William's father was Alberic De Vere and his mother was Beatrice De Gand. His paternal grandparents were Prince Manasseu , Count Of Ghesnes deVere and Petronilla De Boleine; his maternal grandparents were Henry Castellan De Gand and Sibilla De Manasses. He had four brothers and a sister, named Alberic, Geoffrey, Roger, Robert and Rohese. He was the second youngest of the six children.
