Marie was born in 1650 in Rochefort,FRANCE.1 She died at the age of 95 in 1745.1

Marie Chaussegros who was one of five young women from Rochefort, France, whom the French government sent to the Acadian and Quebec colonies to marry the young bachelor settlers. These brave young women were often orphans and were known fondly as the "king's nieces" because the French government provided them with ships passage, clothes, and a small dowery.
