Malcom III was born in 1033 in Atholl,Perthshire,Scotland. Malcom III's father was Duncan I Cean-mor and his mother was Sybyl Fitzsward. His paternal grandparents were Crinan Grimas and UNKNOWN Beatrice Of Scotland. He was an only child. He died at the age of 60 in 1093 in Alnwick,Northumberland,England.General Notes
Marriage: to Margaret, an English princess who was forced into exile in Scotland by the Norman Conquest of England.
Reign: His father, King Duncan I, was assassinated by Macbeth, who then ruled as king. But Malcolm defeated and killed Macbeth in 1057. In 1059, Malcolm gained the throne as King Malcolm III MacDuncan. While Macbeth was in power, Malcolm had spent much time in exile in England and gained an interest in their customs, which became more intense after his marriage to an English wife in 1067. Margaret influenced the Celtic church to accept more Roman Catholic teachings. After Malcolm's death, many of the chieftans rebelled against her for interfering with their religion, and she and her son, Prince Duncan II, heir to Malcolm's throne, were driven from Scotland. The son, Edgar, became king 1097.
