Joyce was born on April 8th, 1618. Joyce's father was Henrie Briggs and her mother was Mary Hinckes. Her paternal grandfather was Thomas Briggs; her maternal grandfather was John Hinckes. She had a brother and a sister, named Rev. John and Rebecca. She was the youngest of the three children.
