Rhoda was born on December 27th, 1803 in Botetourt County, Virginia.  Rhoda's father was Phillip Boster and her mother was Elizabeth Barbara Hinterliter.  Her paternal grandfather was Phillip Bosser. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Solomon, John, Johnathan, Moses, Daniel, Sarah, Catherine and Mary "Polly".  She was the youngest of the nine children.
