William de was born about 0953.¹ William de's father was Torf de Harcourt and his mother was Ertemberge de BRIQUEBEC. His maternal grandparents were Lancelot De BRIOQUIBEC and Sprote de Bourgoyne. He had three brothers named TOUROUDE de, Turchetil and William De. He was the youngest of the four children.
