Sarah was born on February 20th, 1761 in ,Goochland, VA.1 Sarah's father was Thomas POOR and her mother was Elizabeth MOSELY. Her maternal grandparents were John Mosby and Mary NICHOLS. She had two brothers and eight sisters, named William, Thomas Jr., Ann, Mary, Elizabeth, Susannah, Mildred, Lucy, Judith and Janny. She was the fourth youngest of the eleven children.-
