Robert de was born in 1106 in of Hook Norton, Oxfordshire, England.1 Robert de's father was Robert II de Oilly and his mother was Edith Sigulfson. His paternal grandparents were Nigel de Oilly and Agnes de Oilly; his maternal grandfather was Forn Sigulfson. He had two brothers and a sister, named Henry de, Gilbert de and Edith de. He was the second youngest of the four children.-
