Tostig was born about 1025 in of Wessex, England.1 Tostig's father was Godwin of Wessex and his mother was Gytha Thorkilsdottir. His paternal grandfather was Wulfnoth of Sussex; his maternal grandparents were Jarl Thorkill Sprakalaeg and Sigrid Sprakalegg. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Sveyn, Harold II, Gyrth, Leofwine, Wulfnoth of Wessex, Alfgar of Wessex, Edith Eadgyth of Wessex, Gunhilda of Wessex, Elgiva of Wessex and Driella of Wessex. He died due to Killed by his brother Harold in 1066 in Battle of Stamford Bridge.1 General Notes
