His paternal grandparents were Pierre Louis Soblet and Marte Martain; his maternal grandparents were William Allen and Mary Hunt. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Abraham, Field, George Allen, Valentine, William Allen, Martha, Celea, Mary Hunt, Nancy, Susannah and Ursula.
