John was born in 1510 in Harpham, York, England.1   John's father was William St. Quintin and his mother was Jane Twyer.  His paternal grandparents were John St. Quintin and Alice Holme; his maternal grandfather was Robert Twyer. He had five brothers named Edmund, Edward, Robert, Thomas and William.  He died at the age of 62 in 1572.1
