Elizabeth Smith 
Elizabeth was born on January 31st, 1803 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.1 Elizabeth's father was William Smith and her mother was Elizabeth Ridley. Her paternal grandparents were Peter Smith and Isabella; her maternal grandparents were George Ridley and Elizabeth Maria Weatherford. She had five brothers named George, William Payne, Joel, Peter and John. She was the second youngest of the six children. She died at the age of 34 on January 14th, 1838 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.1 General Notes

According to the notes in the Bible of George Kite, Elizabeth Smith w as born
31 Jan 1803. This Elizabeth, considered by many to be the daughter o f Luther
Smith, could not be--unless there is an error as to her birth. Luthe r Smith,
in a Hawkins Co., Tennessee deed, dated 29 Jan 1803, mentions his five
children, among them Betsy. If she was indeed born Jan 31, she was m inus two
days old here. All evidence points to the fact that the correct Eliz abeth was
closely related to luther Smith. Luther was married to Barbara Loude rback; her
sister was married to John Kite. Henry and Isaac Louderback had muc h to do
with the Kite family.
