Edward was born in April 1739 in Charles County, Maryland.1 Edward's father was Electius Simms and his mother was Virlinda Green. His paternal grandparents were Anthony Semmes and Ann Sissons. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Ignatius, Anthony, Winifred, Virlinda, Sarah and Mary.-
