Amanda Jane was born in 1849 in ,Bourbon, Kentucky.1 Amanda Jane's father was Greenberry Reid and her mother was Amanda Langston. Her paternal grandparents were William S. Reid and Jemima Hedges; her maternal grandparents were Abraham Langston and Isabella Clark. She had three brothers and two sisters, named John W., George Washington, Henry Clay, Agnes and Louisa Or Lou C.. She was the youngest of the six children.-
