Elizabeth's father was Robert Pitt and her mother was Martha Lear. Her paternal grandparents were William Pitt and Mary Gibbs; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Lear and Elizabeth Bridger. She had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Robert, Hester, Martha and Mary.
