John's father was David Strathbogie and his mother was Isabel Chilham. His paternal grandparents were John Fife Of Strathbogie and Ada Of Hastings; his maternal grandparents were Richard Chilham and Maud Of Angus. He was an only child. He died on November 7th, 1306.¹
