Payton Skipper was born on February 18th, 1795 in ,Henry, Virginia.1 Payton Skipper's father was Reuben Nance and his mother was Nancy Brown. His paternal grandparents were William Nance and Ann Eppes. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Clement, Joseph, Stephen, Edmund, Lessonby, Reuben Saunders, Sarah and Nancy. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.-
