Solomon was born on June 5th, 1759 in ,Granville, North Carolina.1   Solomon's father was Robert Tyner Mitchell and his mother was Jane Henderson.  His paternal grandfather was Robert Tyner Mitchell. He had six brothers and a sister, named John, Louis, Mark, Robert, Thomas, William and Rebecca.  He died at the age of 80 in 1839 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.1
