Sibby was born in 1833 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.¹ Sibby's father was Francis J. Miller and her mother was Sarah. She had four brothers and five sisters, named George, Jacob, Samuel D., Newton, Katherine, Emeline, Julia Ann, Susan and Sarah E.. She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.
