Catherine's father was Benjamin Layman and her mother was Catherine. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Benjamin, Isaac, John, Joseph, Ann Susannah, Barbara, Christenah, Elizabeth, Mary, Rosannah and Sarah.  She died in 1838 in Shenandoah County, Virginia.1
