William Asbury Lawson

William Asbury was born in 1856 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.¹ William Asbury's father was George Washington Lawson and his mother was Melvina Jane Cook. His paternal grandfather was Martin Lawson. He had four brothers and three sisters, named George W., Martin Monroe, Robert Lee, James Patton, Elizabeth, Cornelia and Martha. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 83 in 1939.¹
