George was born in 1874 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.1 George's father was Curren Lawson and his mother was Mary. His paternal grandparents were Banks Lawson and Thersey Parvin. He had two brothers and four sisters, named John, Thomas, Paralee, Amanda, Valera and Sarah E.. He was the second youngest of the seven children.
