In their early married life, Autie and Bonnie Combest Kever farmed their
small property near Valdasta which was inherited from Bonnie's father,
John Wiley Combest, and was part of the large land holdings of the
Combest family.
Autie and Bonnie Combest Kever had two sons, both born on the farm three
miles southeast of Valdasta. Dr. Mantooth attended the births of J.
Warren Kever, born 1923 and Donald Ray Kever, born 1925. The Kevers faced
the hardships of the Great Depression of the thirties and two World Wars.
In the early 1930's the family moved to Princeton and operated a grocery
store there and later at Blueridge. In 1939, two years before the attack
on Pearl Harbor, they opened a furniture store in McKinney and, until
Autie's death on 5 July, 1958 in Garland, Texas, had furniture stores in
McKinney and Garland, Texas. Autie Travis Kever is buried at Blueridge,
Texas.
Bonnie Katherine Combest Kever died 29 November, 1989 in Sherman, Texas.
