Barbara was born on August 23rd, 1785 in ,Shenandoah, Virginia.1 Barbara's father was Gottlieb Huffmaster and her mother was Sarah Louderback. Her maternal grandparents were Johan David Lauterbach and Maria Elizabetha Klein. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, John, Daniel, Godlove, Jonathan, Mary, Sarah and Elizabeth. She was the second oldest of the nine children.-
