Eva Jane was born about 1859 in ,Washington, Missouri.1 Eva Jane's father was Eugene Godat and her mother was Eva L. Horine. Her paternal grandparents were Charles Joseph Godat and Augustine Dore; her maternal grandparents were Benjamin Horine and Catherine Shook. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Henry A., Benjamin Charles, William G., Gustavus "Gus", Gladys, Edward, Mary C., Susan Josephine, Julia Malissa, Rosa and Dora. She was the sixth youngest of the twelve children.-
