John Allen was born on July 14th, 1803 in Georgetown, Scott, Kentucky.1   John Allen's father was Richard M. Gano and his mother was Elizabeth Ewing.  His paternal grandfather was John Gano.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 84 on October 14th, 1887 in Centerville, Bourbon, Kentucky.1
