Margaret Laura was born on January 24th, 1860 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.1 Margaret Laura's father was Robert Preston Fickle and her mother was Elizabeth Chamberlain. Her paternal grandparents were Abraham Fickle and Margaret Rhea. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Oscar, John Preston, Lincoln Rhea, Samuel Bruce, Robert Lee, Mary Frances, Jane Preston and Anna May. She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.-
