Charles was born on March 6th, 1874 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.1 Charles' father was Richard Fain Dyer and his mother was Sarah Luster. His paternal grandparents were John Robert Dyer and Barsheba Thorp. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Homer Fain, Molly and Ida Mae. He was the oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named William and Isabel.-
