Nancy Jane was born in 1837 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.1 Nancy Jane's father was John C. Crumley and her mother was Nancy Elizabeth Carrier. Her paternal grandparents were Jacob Crumley and Nancy; her maternal grandparents were Jonathan Carrier and Abigail Glover. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Jonathan, Jacob, John Anderson, William, Alfred, Sarah, Martha and Elizabeth.-
