Nancy was born in 1856 in Wythe County, Virginia.1 Nancy's father was John Blessing and her mother was Catherine Baugh. Her paternal grandparents were Jacob Blessing and Elizabeth Messersmith. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named George Washington, Noah, John, Blessing, Margaret Jane, Frances Caroline, Sarah Catherine, Elizabeth T., Barbara M., Martha and Cynthia.-
