Ann E. was born in 1845 in Washington County, Virginia.1 Ann E.'s father was Solomon Blessing and her mother was Mary Anderson. Her paternal grandparents were Jacob Blessing and Elizabeth Messersmith. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Samuel, John A., James A., Jacob Rector, George Washington, Elizabeth, Catherine E. and Sarah. She was the third youngest of the nine children. She had two half-sisters named Mary and Armetta.-
