Reason's father was Joshua Bell and her mother was Pheraby Norfleet. Her paternal grandparents were William Bell and Ann Jones; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Norfleet and Ruth. She had nine brothers and two sisters, named Arthur, Benjamin, Bythel, Frederick, Joseph, Joshua, Thomas, Whitmel, William, Absilla and Ferabee.-
