Llywarch was born in Of North Wales.¹ Llywarch's father was Tranaern Ap Caradoc and his mother was Nesta Of North Wales. His paternal grandfather was Caradoc Ap Cynfen; his maternal grandparents were Griffith I Ap Llewelyn and Ealdgyth Of Mercia. He had a half-sister named Nesta. He died about 1129.¹
