Leona was born in December 1898 in ,Iron, Missouri.1 Leona's father was Peter Algier and her mother was Emma Hurst. Her paternal grandparents were Nicholas Algeyer and Catharine UNKNOWN. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Peter, Charles, Joseph N., Living, Frances and Annie.
