Ellen Key was born on July 31st, 1840. Ellen Key's father was Charles Howard and her mother was Elizabeth Phoebe Key. Her paternal grandparents were John Eager Howard and Margaretta Chew; her maternal grandparents were Francis Scott Key and Mary Tayloe Lloyd. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Francis Key, John Eager, Charles, James, Edward Lloyd, McHenry, Mary Lloyd, Alice Key, Elizabeth Gray and Anna Arnold Key.General Notes
