Josiah was born in 1835 in Frederick Co., MD. Josiah's father was Nathan Englar and his mother was Margaret Kinzer. His maternal grandparents were John Kinzer and Anne Slaymaker. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Henry, John David, Nathan Adison, Ann Elizabeth and Lydia Melvina. He was the second oldest of the six children.General Notes
