Richard Minter
Richard was born in 1580 in
England. Richard's father was
UNKNOWN Minter. He was an only child. He died at the age of 55 in 1635 in
Virginia.
General Notes
To all to whome these presents shall come I Capt John West Esqr Governor and Capt Generall of Virginia send greeting in our Lord God Everlasting Whereas by letters bearing date the twoe & twentieth day of July 1634 from the Right Honorable the Lords of his Majesties most Honorable Privie Councell their Lordshipps did authorize the Governor and Councell of Virginia to dispose of such proporcons of lands to all planters being ffreemen as they had power to doe before the yeare 1625 when according to diverse orders and constitutions in that case provided and appointed all devidents of Lands any waies due or belonging to any Adventurers or planters of what condicons soever were to bee laid out & assigned unto them according to the severall condicons in the same menconed Now Know yee that I the said Capt John West Esqr doe with the consent of the Councell of State give and grannt unto Edward Minter twoe hundred and fiftie acres of land scituate lying and being in the County of James over against danceing poynt on the Southerly side of the river and on the Easterly side of a small Creeke called sunken marsh Creeke abutting Westerly upon the said Creeke and thence extending Easterly along the banck of the river Northerly upon the maine river and Southerly into the maine woods The said twoe hundred and fiftie acres of Land accrewing due unto him the said Edward Minter as sonn and heire unto his ffather Richard Minter deceased fiftie acres of the said twoe hundred & fiftie acres being due unto the said Richard Minter for his personall Adventure into this Colony and fiftie acres more for the personall Adventure of his wife Ann Minter Mother to the said Edward Minter into this Colony and one hundred and fiftie acres for the transportacon of twoe sonns the said Edward Minter & John Minter and one servant called William Browne into this Colony ~ To have and to hold the said twoe hundred and fiftie acres of Land with his due share of all Mines and Minneralls therein conteyned and withall rights and priviledges of hunting hawking fishing and fowling alsoe all woods waters and rivers all profitts comodities and hereditaments whatsoever within the precincts of the said two hundred and fiftie acres or to the said lands or to any of them in any wise belonging unto the said Edward Minster his heires Executors Administrators and assignes for ever in as large and ample manner to all intents and purposes as is expressed in the said orders and constitutions or by Consequence may bee justly Collected out of the same or out of his Majesties Letters Pattents whereon they are grounded To bee held of our Soveraigne Lord the King his heires and Successors As of his Mannor of East Greenwich in free and comon Soccage and not in Capite nor by Knights Servide Yeilding and paying unto our said Soveraigne Lord the King his heires & Successors for every or to his or their rent gatherers for every fiftie acres of land herein by these presents given and grannted yearely at the feast of St Michaell the Archangell the fee rent of one shilling to his Majesties use Provided alwaies that if the said Edward Minton his heires or assignes shall not plant or seate or cause to bee planted on the said twoe hundred and fiftie acres of land within the time or terme of three yeares now next ensueing the date hereof That then it shall and may bee lawfull for any Adventurer or planter to make Choice of and seate upon the same Given under my hand at James Citty and sealed with the seale of the Colony the twoe and twentieth day of July one Thowsand six hundred thirtie five and in the xith yeare of the reigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles over England &c.
