Onslow: He was a Walloon, born at Chaumont near Liege, Belgium.Moved to
Falaise and became a wealthy tanner, an occupation of low regard--andhigh
smell. He later also became a brewer--a combination not viewed highlyby the
public. He also became Chamberlain to Duke Robert after his daughterbecame the
duke's mistress. Fulbert and his wife had opposed their daughter'srelationship
with the duke, wanting her to marry someone in her station of life.

Lide: In her novel she says Fulbert had a son Walter, who helpedWilliam the
Bastard escape from the clutches of Ralph de Gace, who hoped to becamethe
Duke of Normandy.
