John "Joe" Gilliam Capt. 
John "Joe" was born in Gravesend England. John "Joe"'s father was Sir Richard Devereaux Gilliam and his mother was Lady Dorothy Pembroke. His paternal grandfather was Walter of Hereford; his maternal grandfather was Earl of Pembroke. He was an only child. He died in 1651 in Lynhaven Norfolk VA.General Notes
Arrived in Va on 21 Aug 1635 aboard the "George" or the "Constance".
Three brothers were commissioned by the King of England to survey
Virginia Province. The brothers were John, William, and Thomas Devereaux Gilliam.
