  NOTE:
  David fought in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted in the Dover Light Infantry on August 14, 1776 under Captain Thomas Rodney. In August 1776 he was in Captain Manloves Company, a part of Col. Sammuel Patterson's Battalion at a place called Flying Camp in Delaware. He received a subsistence payment on August 24, 1776, as he marched out of Dover. The Dover Delaware soldiers were called the "Blue Hens Chickens". Early in Delaware's history, 75% of Delaware was made up of chicken farms and today the Blue Hen Chicken is the mascot of the University of Delaware. Most of the information listed here about the Tanners comes from the DAR Application of Peggy Lynn Jackson of Chicago, who used David as her Patriot and the Tanner bible which was quoted in the January 1961 DAR Magazine. The actual research for Peggy's application was accomplished by her mother Gweneth N. Jackson, over the course of many years (according to an e-mail Gweneth sent me on March 7, 2002)
  On February 13, 1768, David conveyed his 50 acres and The Content in Dover Hnd to Nicholas Lockerman. His mother, Katherine (heir of Christian) also sold her share of the land to Nicholas Lockerman.
  David's name was listed on the Little Creek Tax Roll in 1782 with two other males and two females. He was listed on the 1790 census at Little Creek as well as his son, John.
