(Gen.) Robert OVERTON 
(Gen.) Robert was born in 1609 in Easington, ENGLAND. (Gen.) Robert's father was John OVERTON and his mother was Joane SNAWSELL. His paternal grandparents were William OVERTON and UNKNOWN WRIGHT; his maternal grandparents were Robert SNAWSELL of WILTON and Anne WATERS. He was an only child. He died at the age of 70 in December 1679 in Barbadoes, BWI.General Notes

NOTE:
Robert Overton who under Parliament took up arms and served Cromwell, and finally was sent to the Barbados in solitude. Distinguished himself in battle of "Marston Moor"; governor of Hull in 1647; accompanied Cromwell to Scotland in 1650, and commanded a brigade at battle of Dunbar; governor of Edinburgh; scholar and soldier; intimate friend of Milton, who celebrated his exploits in the "Defensio Secunda." (See Dictionary of National Biography.)
