The Heruli, were a Germanic people originally from Scandinavia.They raided towns and settlements in the Roman Empire.They captured Byzantium in AD 267.They sacked Athens, Greece as well.In 269 AD, the Roman Emperor Claudius,II Gothicus crushed the heruli,in a battle,near modern Nis,Yugoslavia,Naissus it was called.The Huns,Ermanaric the Goth and the Lombards all subjugated the Heruli and after the 6th century they vanished from history.(Here,I married a Lombard-oh the lives we weave toghether!!)Their kingdom was founded on the middle Danube.
