William GRESHAM 
William was born on April 22nd, 1522 in London, ENGLAND. William's father was (Sir) John II GRESHAM and his mother was Mary IPSWELL. His paternal grandparents were John I GRESHAM and Alice BLYTH; his maternal grandparents were William * IPSWELL and Marion * UNKNOWN. He was an only child. He died at the age of 56 on June 20th, 1578 in London, ENGLAND.General Notes

Source: Gresham AWYSI Newsletter: Henry VIII was the king when William Gresham was born in 1522. His father, John Gresham, was a member of the Royal household being appointed one of the Gentlemen Pensioners to the king. William, therefore, was raised as a nobleman and was educated at St. Paul's School. William was admitted of Lincoln's Inn March 1541. He was Sheriff of Surrey and Sussex 1564 and 1577 and a Commissioner of General Musters of county Surrey on May 1569. When his father died on October 23, 1556, he left his manor at Titsey to William as well as many other lands and manors in Limpsfield andBrodeham in county Surrey. William built New Hall,Limpsfield and enlarged the Mansion House at Titsey.William died at Limpsfield and is buried at Titsey; and abrass is in the church there.
