(Jarl) Rogenvald was born in 0837 in Maer, Nord-Trondelag, NORWAY. (Jarl) Rogenvald's father was (Jarl) Eistein IVARSSON and his mother was (Countess) Aseda ROGNVALDSDATTIR. His paternal grandparents were pppppp UNKNOWN and (Princess) Eistein II EYSTEINSDOTTIR; his maternal grandparents were (Prince) Rognvald OLAFSSON and (Princess) Tora SIGURDSDOTTIR. He was an only child. He died about 0894 in Orkney Islands, SCOTLAND.General Notes

NOTE:
Rognvald "the Wise"; first Jarl (Earl) of Orkney and Jarl of the North & South More & Romsdal (Norwegian); a near relative of King Harold "The Fairhair"; a Norwegian Viking.
His son Thorir succeeded Rognvald to the Jarlsom of More and married King Harold's daughter, Arbota. Harold bestowed the Shetland and Orkney lands on Rognvaald's family. His brother, Sigurd, the Sea King Einar, one-eyed and ruthless, added Caithness to their holdings and was the second Jarl of Orkney.
The house of Rognvald was one of the oldest lines of Rulers in Norway with Rollo's brothers, Hallard and Einar, becoming the 4th and 5th Earls of Orkney. Einar's descendant, Isobel, married William Sinclair, 11th Baron of Rossylin, a descendant of Einar's Brother Rollo. This connected the Norse lines of Einar and Rollo back to Rognvald again.
Rognvald was murdered (burned to death in his own home) by Haaleg and Gudrod Ljome.
