James Stipe 
James was born in 1850 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. James' father was James Stipe and his mother was Harriet. His paternal grandparents were George Stipe and Catherine. He had a brother and three sisters, named George, Alwilda, Margaret and Eliza. He was the second youngest of the five children.
