Peter's father was Lawrence Snapp and his mother was Margaret Stephens. His paternal grandparents were Johannes Schnepf and Barbara. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Philip, Abraham, Jacob, John, Joseph, Lawrence, Susannah, Elizabeth, Christina and Margaret. He died in 1789 in Shenandoah County, Virginia.-
