Bertha Simms 
Bertha was born about 1702 in Charles County, Maryland. Bertha's father was Anthony Semmes and her mother was Ann Sissons. Her paternal grandparents were Marmaduke Semmes and Fortune Watson; her maternal grandparents were Edward Sissons and Alice. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Marmaduke, Anthony, Electius, Fidelmus, Mary and Jane. She was the third youngest of the seven children.-
