Thomas E. was born in 1894 in Tennessee. Thomas E.'s father was Benjamin Franklin Shipley and his mother was Julia A. Short. His paternal grandparents were David Shipley and Rachel Shipley. He had three brothers named Walter B., David J. and Clay Evans. He had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Orgie Iven, Adria Ellen, Mary Etta, Mittie R. and Susan. He died at the age of 78 in 1972.-
