Christina was born in October 1825 in Of Sullivan County, Tennessee.  Christina's father was Benjamin Shipley and her mother was Catherine Wells.  Her paternal grandparents were Eli Shipley and Elizabeth Kingston. She had six brothers and six sisters, named Orson, Ednymion, Jesse, Zachariah, Eli Wilson, Benjamin, Mary, Malinda, Rachel, Nancy, Catherine and Sybilla.
