Mary Shanks 
Mary was born in 1848 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Mary's father was George Shanks and her mother was Lucy. Her paternal grandparents were Christian Shanks and Margaret Pearson. She had three brothers and three sisters, named William, Wiley, John, Catherine, Minerva and Rachel. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
